The Lemon Pirouette: Fall Administrative Changes

East Side Union High School District interim-Superintendent Bob Nunez announced in mid-September the following principal changes: Wendy Gudalawicz resigned, Carol Blackerby would return to serve as Independence High School’s interim principal. Then she was moved to Oak Grove High School to serve as the interim-principal replacing Geraldine Forte, who moved to the district office. Oak Grove’s Rich Frias was sent to James Lick High School as the principal, to replace Bill Rice, who was sent to Independence to replace Carol Blackerby.

The song ended and a chair was pulled. Here’s how the game turned out. Parents erupted at James Lick and Oak Grove. Rich Frias is back at Oak Grove as the interim-principal. Bill Rice is back at James Lick. Carol Blackerby is back at Independence.

Thanks for the unnecessary shuffling, interim Superintendent Nunez and East Side trustees. Like the FEMA director, you’re doing a heckuva job.

Or is this more evidence of the East Side leadership gap that has failure written all over it?
